Weather of the Soul Series: Solar Storms - The Invisible Currents That Move Through Us
From the Candle’s Glow
There are storms we can see. Thunder rolling across the sky. Rain tapping against windows. Winds bend trees and reshape the land. These are the storms we have learned to recognize, to prepare for, to witness with our own eyes.
Then there are storms, we cannot see at all. Far beyond the clouds, beyond even the blue of the sky, the sun is constantly moving, shifting, and releasing energy into the vastness of space. Most days, we do not feel it consciously. Life continues as usual. The world appears calm.
There are moments when the sun releases something more. A surge of energy. A wave of charged particles travels across millions of miles, eventually reaching Earth. When it does, it interacts with our planet in ways both visible and unseen.
The sky may shimmer with auroras. Technology may flicker. The magnetic field surrounding the Earth may shift. Quietly, within us, something may stir as well. Solar storms remind us that not all influence is visible. Some of it moves through fields we cannot see — but deeply feel.
The Science of Solar Storms: Energy From the Sun
Solar storms originate from the Sun’s outer atmosphere, where intense magnetic activity is constantly unfolding.
There are two primary types of solar events:
Solar Flares: Sudden bursts of radiation are released from the sun’s surface. These can reach Earth within minutes and disrupt radio communications and satellite operations.
Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs): Massive clouds of charged particles and magnetic fields are ejected into space. These take one to three days to reach Earth and can interact with our planet’s magnetic field. When these charged particles collide with Earth’s magnetosphere, they create geomagnetic storms.
One of the most beautiful results of this interaction is the aurora — the Northern and Southern Lights — where energy from the Sun excites gases in Earth’s atmosphere, causing them to glow in waves of green, pink, and violet light. Not all effects are visible, and the Earth is not untouched by these storms. It responds.
Geomagnetic storms can:
- Disrupt power grids.
- Interfere with GPS and satellites.
- Alter radio signals.
- Affect the flow of electrical currents in Earth’s systems.
The Human Body as an Energetic System
The human body is not just physical — it is also electrical. Our hearts generate electromagnetic fields. Our brains communicate through electrical impulses. Our nervous system constantly sends signals throughout the body.
We are, in many ways, living fields of energy. As a result, some researchers and observers have explored the possibility that geomagnetic activity may influence human behavior, mood, and physiological responses. While science continues to study these connections, many people report heightened sensitivity during periods of increased solar activity.
This can include:
- Changes in sleep patterns.
- Increased emotional intensity.
- Heightened intuition or awareness.
- Feelings of restlessness or fatigue.
Whether subtle or noticeable, these experiences point toward an interesting idea: We may be more connected to cosmic rhythms than we realize.
Spiritual Meaning of Solar Storms
Spiritually, solar storms represent energetic activation. If rain is an emotional release and floods are overwhelming, solar storms are something different entirely. They are awakening currents.
They stir what has been dormant. They illuminate what has been hidden. They bring movement to energy that has felt stagnant. Just as lightning illuminates the sky, solar energy illuminates the unseen layers of our inner world.
These moments may feel like:
- Sudden insights or realizations.
- Increased sensitivity to your environment.
- Emotional shifts without a clear external cause.
- A sense that something within you is changing.
Solar storms do not move through the body in the same way that emotional weather does. They move through the energetic field. They activate. They awaken. They invite awareness.
The Unseen Connection
The Earth itself responds to solar storms through its magnetic field. When we are living within that field, we may feel those shifts in subtle ways. This does not mean every emotion or experience is caused by solar activity. It does open the door to a deeper understanding: We are not separate from the environment around us — not even the parts we cannot see.
Just as tides respond to the moon, and plants respond to sunlight, the human system may respond to energetic shifts in ways we are still learning to understand. Solar storms remind us that connection extends beyond the visible world.
Navigating Energetic Intensity
During periods of heightened energy, whether emotional or energetic, the most important thing we can do is stay grounded. Not every shift requires action. Sometimes awareness is enough.
You might:
- Spend time outside, connecting with the earth.
- Drink water and support your physical body.
- Rest when your energy feels low.
- Avoid overstimulation when possible.
- Sit in stillness and observe what arises without reacting immediately.
The Glow We Carry Forward
Solar storms remind us that we are part of something vast. Energy moves through the sun, through space, into the Earth, and perhaps even into us in ways we are only beginning to understand. Some changes arrive quietly. Some arrive like lightning. Some move invisibly, shifting the landscape within us without ever being seen.
We do not need to fully understand these forces to respect them. We only need to remember that we are connected to the earth, to the sky, and to something far beyond both. Even in the unseen, there is movement. Even in the invisible, there is influence. Even in the quietest moments, something within us is always responding to the world around us.
