Told through five interconnected sections, the collection follows an emotional journey from childhood innocence to the wisdom of embracing every version of ourselves.
Our Innocence
The season of beginnings. Childhood wonder, cherished memories, and a world not yet seen through the lens of heartbreak. These poems return to life's earliest chapters, when love felt simple, imagination knew no boundaries, and the smallest moments became memories we would carry forever.
Our Naiveness
The season of first discoveries. Of young love, misplaced trust, beautiful illusions, and lessons we couldn't yet recognize. These poems explore the tender vulnerability of believing in forever, the innocence of giving our hearts without hesitation, and the bittersweet realization that not everything we love is meant to remain.
Our Catalyst
The season that changes everything. Heartbreak, grief, difficult truths, and experiences that reshape how we see ourselves and the world. These poems venture into life's darker chapters, where survival becomes its own kind of courage, and the first seeds of transformation take root.
Our Awakening
The season of remembering who we are. A season of reflection, healing, rediscovery, and the gradual understanding that our past doesn't have to define our future. These poems explore the space between letting go and moving forward, where we begin to recognize our own strength and reclaim the pieces of ourselves we thought were lost.
Our Becoming
The season of coming home. Of acceptance, growth, forgiveness, and learning to embrace the person we have become. These poems honor the journey, not the destination, recognizing that every joy, every heartbreak, every ending, and every beginning has shaped the life we now hold.
Together, these five seasons tell a story that is both deeply personal and profoundly human. Each Season of Our Life is not a collection about perfect endings or a life untouched by sorrow. It is about the beauty of imperfection, the courage it takes to continue, and the understanding that healing is rarely a straight path.
It is for those who have loved deeply, lost pieces of themselves along the way, and found the strength to begin again. For the child who dreamed. For the heart that broke, the soul that endured, and the person still becoming, because every season, even the ones we never wished to experience, has a place in the story of who we are.
Why I Wrote This Book
For twenty years, I have been learning how to heal. For ten of those years, I have been writing my way through it. I did not begin writing with the intention of publishing a book. I began because I couldn't always say some things aloud. I had memories I needed to understand, emotions I needed to release, and parts of myself I was still learning to find. Writing became a place to return to the girl I once was, sit beside the woman I was becoming, and make peace with the seasons between them. Some of these poems were born from beautiful memories. Others came from heartbreak, grief, difficult lessons, and moments when I questioned whether I would ever feel like myself again.
For a long time, these words belonged only to me, but somewhere along the way, I began to understand that although our stories are different, we often carry the same emotions. We have all experienced seasons that changed us. Seasons we wished would last forever. Seasons we prayed would end. Seasons we did not realize were leading us toward something better. I wrote Each Season of Our Life to honor every version of myself who helped me reach this moment. I chose to share it because I hope someone, somewhere in these pages, might recognize a piece of their own story. This book isn't about having all the answers or pretending healing happens in a straight line. It is about looking back with compassion, finding meaning in what we have survived, and realizing that becoming ourselves is a journey made of every season we have lived.
There was a time when I believed certain chapters of my life were meant to be forgotten. Now, I understand that even the chapters I struggled to revisit helped shape the woman holding this book today. If there is one thing I hope readers carry with them after turning the final page, it is this: You are not defined solely by the seasons that broke your heart, the people who could not stay, or the dreams that unfolded differently than you imagined. You are also the love you gave, the courage you found, the lessons you carried, and the person you continued becoming through it all. Every version of you deserves compassion. Every season deserves acknowledgment. Every story, no matter how complicated, deserves the opportunity to find its way home.
